Already a few weeks ago I received an email with the following content:
Hello,
I am trying to find out more and it will be very difficult, BUT:
Theere is a word out there that one person in Split, Croatia, owned Fiat 500 Coupe "Coccinella" then sold it to another and that the third owner is one guy who actually thought in restauraing it in late 1970's but the car was already too rusty and missing many parts, so he just left it on a junkyard. The thir owner does not have any pictures of the car and, apparently, had no idea that car was so rare.
Me and my friends are trying to find any photographs of this car in Split. There should be one or two, ellegedly very small ones.
This story does sound like aftermidnight talk of a few petrolheads sitting arround a small table in a local bar and actually this is how it started last night, but...
We will investigate further and should we find anything of importance, any pictures, we will let you know.
Best regards,
local petrolheads from Split Croatia
The next day I did receive a follow up from Jurica Mandic, the secretary of the Splitski Oldtimer Autoclub. He will keep me informed about their progress in their quest for the Croatian Coccinella.
Let's hope for more good news... |

A few days ago I got an email which told me that a few of our American friends attend an Italian car event that will be held at Pocono at the end of June 2012. This years event has a special place for three Bizzarini spyders, but somewhere near to these magninificant cars, the three OTAS's will have a special place of their own. They will only appear at the concours held at Saturday, so if you wanna go and see them pick the right day!
I've looked at the website of the event and, although you have to be at patient, Haz's car is shown on one of the pictures.
I'm really looking forward to hear more from you guys. |

Dear visitor,
As time moves on some decisions that you've taken in the past do not turn out to be so well. One of those decisions is the way the pictures are shown on the site.

Welcome at the Francis Lombardi Pages. On this site you will find everything about Francis Lombardi and his beautiful inheritage. These pages started it's life as pages about his biggest succes, the Lombardi Grand Prix and related cars such as the OTAS 820 Grand Prix, the Giannini Grand Prix, the Abarth Grand Prix and the Abarth Scorpione. And you will find a comparison between these cars. But as Bob Dylan sang "The times, they are a-changin" this site also has moved on. We want to cover more of his life and works so we changed its name.
We would like to contact other owners of Lombardi's in order to create a list of 'survivors'. Of course, owners of cars above mentioned are also invited to react. You can sign up here. Like so many things a Lombardi is not blessed with eternal life. Regarding the well known "quality" of Italian steel at the '60 and '70 it's not really a surprise to you that many have found their way to the scrapyard. You can have look at them here. If you know more about an ended carlife, would you give us the information?
Owners of other Lombardi's are also invited to react. The Lombardi factory has made more models than just the Grand Prix and the Fiat 500 Lombardi My Car. Of most cars we don't know more than just its existence. Please send us an

if you know more about such a car. We also want to make an list of these cars. So if you own one, join the list!
Here's also the opportunity to sell your Lombardi Grand Prix, watch some 'sleeping beauties' or answer a question of another visitor.
Most pages do have some pictures, but there's room for more. So if you know more about the cars or have a picture we don't have and you want to share it with me, please send an e-mail. Any information will do. To find out more about Lombardi, please follow the links. |
